About NOVUS Wipers

What are NOVUS Wipers?

NOVUS Wipers are a professional-grade, all-in-one wiper kit - the same wipers our technicians fit at NOVUS every day. Now they come in a box, to your door, for you to fit yourself. It takes about a minute, no tools needed.

What does All-in-One mean?

It means you're replacing the entire wiper assembly - frame and blade - not just the rubber strip. A refill can leave you with a fresh blade on a red frame; a complete replacement gives you a proper, like-new wipe every time.

Are these really the same wipers NOVUS technicians fit?

Yes. “Professional grade” isn't marketing - these are the exact wipers we install across our branches nationwide, every day. The only difference is who's doing the fitting: you.

How do I know my wipers need replacing?

If they're streaking, skipping, squeaking or juddering across the glass, they're past it. Sun, heat and road grit break the blade down until it stops gripping the windscreen - and that wear happens faster than most people think. Your wipers are the one thing between you and a clear view of the road, so if they're leaving marks or making noise, it's me.

How often should wipers be replaced?

As a rule of thumb, check them every six months and replace them as soon as they start to streak or make noise. NZ conditions - harsh sun in summer, frosts in winter - are tough on wiper rubber, so most sets need replacing more often than people expect.

Why not just buy a universal wiper blade?

Universal blades come with a lot of guesswork - pick the wrong one, and you get a loose fit, chattering across the glass, or a blade that lifts off in heavy rain. A NOVUS Wiper Kit is the opposite: matched to your exact vehicle, including the relevant adaptor that actually fits.

Why not just replace the rubber refill?

You can, but a fresh strip of rubber on a worn frame is only half the fix. The frame is what presses the blade evenly against the glass, and it fatigues and corrodes just like the rubber perishes. Replacing the whole assembly is why a NOVUS Wiper Kit gives you that like-new wipe, not just a quieter version of the old one.

How does the price stack up against others?

Really well. Recent price comparison is on par with generic auto parts stores and competitors. However, a NOVUS Wiper Kit is different. You're not buying blades one at a time and hoping you've chosen the right fit. We match your exact vehicle and send you the kit, including any specific adaptors.

Finding the right kit

Will a NOVUS Wiper Kit fit my vehicle?

Almost certainly. Pop your make, model and year into the vehicle finder on our homepage and we'll match you to the exact kit for your car. Every kit is backed by our fit guarantee - if something isn't quite right, we'll sort it.

What's included in the kit?

Your NOVUS Wiper Kit includes replacement wiper assemblies matched to your vehicle, plus any adaptors your vehicle might need - all in the one box. There's nothing extra to buy and no tools required. Choose from a Front+Rear Kit (complete), Front Kit (pair), or a Rear Kit (some vehicles don't have a rear wiper, such as utes).

What's the “02” adaptor I keep hearing about?

It's the most common wiper adaptor (connector) for our market of vehicles, and it comes pre-installed on your new NOVUS wipers. For most cars, that means you just slide the new wiper on and click it into place - no adapter needed.

What if my car uses a different fitting?

Don't worry - the right adaptor is already in your box. Simply clip it onto the new wiper first, then fit it exactly the same way. Same job, one extra click.

What are the different wiper fittings?

Wipers attach in a handful of ways - the classic hook (a J- or U-shaped metal hook, common on older vehicles and utes), pinch tab and top-lock connectors (common on newer cars), plus bayonet and side-pin styles on some European models. The good news: you don't need to know which one you have. Enter your make, model and year and your kit arrives with the right adaptors.

My car has an older metal hook-style wiper arm - will a NOVUS Wiper Kit fit?

Yes. Hook arms are one of the most common fittings on New Zealand roads, especially on Japanese imports and older utes. If your vehicle uses a hook arm, your kit will include the right connection for it - clip it on, click the wiper into place, done.

Why do you need my car's year, not just the make and model?

Because manufacturers change wiper sizes and connection types between years - sometimes in the middle of a model's life. Two cars that look identical from the outside can take different wipers. The year is how we make sure the kit that arrives is the one that clicks straight on.

Are both my wipers the same size?

Usually not - on most cars, the driver's side blade is longer than the passenger's. It's one of the easiest ways to end up with the wrong wipers when buying blades individually. With a NOVUS Wiper Kit, both sizes come matched to your car, so there's nothing to measure.
